I need somebody who knows a great deal about nylon/cotton combination fabrics?

You need a special dye to dye nylon; it's not very practical to do at home. Nylon does not take the usual sort of fabric dyes. Any fabric with a pattern on it doesn't take dye very well anyway; the pattern always shows through.
