Sometimes my Adam's Apple is extremely big, and sometimes it's average size. What causes these random growths

And what can I do to stop my Adam's Apple to go through an excessively large stage? Is it dietary? Exercising? Or can it be just the fact that when I catch a bug my Adam's Apple swells up like a lymph note? Anyway, any info on Adam's Apples and how to keep them not ginormous would be well appreciated.
