Biology question - (do forgive me)?

Both of these statements are true. A gene is a region of DNA, meaning that a gene is made up of DNA. It's like saying a parking space is a region of pavement. Or a slice of bread is a region of the loaf. Genes are specific sequences of DNA that code for proteins and enzymes which do most of the work in the body.
