What's in a name? Can a name determine a man's fate in politics?

Back in the 1800's, a woman in Austria had a baby out of wedlock. His name was Alois Schickelgruber. Years later, his supposed father came back and claimed him as his own, giving him the last name of Heidler. It was then misspelled by a government official, and changed to 'Hitler'. This was Adolf Hitler's father. What if the last name had remained Schickelgruber instead? Could the man with the narrow mustache have risen to power and become Fuhrer of Germany with a somewhat comical sounding last name like Schickelgruber? I just can't imagine people running around yelling 'Heil Schickelgruber!' It just doesn't have the same ring to it as "heil Hitler'. Maybe the world would have spared the carnage of WW2 if this name change hadn't occurred. What do you think?
