Applying for first job with a BS in economics?

It really depends on the job that you are interviewing for. If you apply for a job which does not directly relate to your field of study, for instance as a junior trading istant in an investment bank, your experience or the lack thereof will not be relevant. On the other hand, if you have experience in the particular field relevant to the job, it may or may not count for something. In general, when managers hire candidates at the junior level and two candidates are equally qualified in every aspect, the experience may be the deciding factor. In any case, if you have some extracurricular experience, such as doing voluntary work abroad, just mention it; if the hiring manager likes it, ok. If not, it won't do much damage. Just remember: in any job interview, try to be yourself and be honest. Don't try to project an image that you cannot live up to; in particular at the junior level. The hiring manager may be an experienced interviewer and know much better how to read your CV and your body language than you can fake it.
